About Me
Hello, and welcome to my photography portfolio! I’m a photographer passionate about capturing authentic moments and stories through the lens.
My Journey
Originally from northern Afghanistan, my journey to becoming a photographer was unique and formative. I grew up multilingual—speaking Pashto, Dari, Hindi, Japanese—and eventually learned English, Arabic, and Russian along my way to the UK as a refugee. My experiences taught me that communication transcends language; it’s also shared through food, travel, and human connection.
Education & Experience
Since arriving in the UK, I’ve studied Creative Media Practice, developing my skills in visual storytelling, technical production, and creative collaboration. Inspired by filmmakers like Wes Anderson, I’ve focused on the power of visual techniques to convey compelling narratives through photography.
Professionally, I’ve served as a photographer for Creative Mornings London and Hekayyatna, a studio highlighting Middle Eastern stories. These roles have deepened my connection to diverse communities and allowed me to use photography as a tool for positive social impact.
Community & Advocacy
I’ve also actively participated in advocacy and community projects. As a Young Director for the London Borough of Bexley’s Young Leaders programme, I advocated for important issues such as free healthcare and transportation for youth in care, working directly with London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan. Additionally, I’ve volunteered as a translator with organizations like Care4Calais and Refugees Welcome Portugal, amplifying the stories of migrants and refugees.
Photography & Vision
Photography, for me, is about capturing the heart of stories that might otherwise remain unseen or unheard. Every project is a chance to bring diverse perspectives to life, bridging cultural divides and building deeper understanding.
Thank you for visiting my portfolio. I hope my work resonates with you, and I look forward to collaborating on stories that matter.
